SAKSHAM

SAKSHAM

Strengthening Non-Profits for Sustainable Growth
Capacity building of non-profits – with a difference!

Saksham in Sanskrit means capable. That is exactly what we strive to make the organizations we partner with.

Lack of credibility in front of donors, employees, and even regulators pose a big hurdle in fund raising for social sector organisations. This failure is not intentional. Often it is ignorance, incapability or affordability which leads to lack of financial discipline, accountability, pro-active reporting and gaps in compliance.

Saksham is a project where over a three-year active engagement with organizations we set up, streamline and strengthen all the back-office processes with the objective of making them more credible and dependable for donors to donate their money.

Unlike traditional capacity-building programs, our focus is not only on training or workshops, Saksham takes a fundamentally different approach. We don’t just teach; we build and run your back-office systems with you for a full 3 years before handing them over to your team with complete knowledge transfer and handholding.

After going through the Saksham cycle, we want every partner organization to be financially stronger, more accountable, responsive and capable of undertaking larger projects and accessing more donors.

Engagement Model

Saksham is a 3-year structured cohort-based program that supports non-profits in gaining credibility, becoming scalable, and
funding-ready organizations.
Each cohort includes 20–25 non-profits, and over the program duration, the STF team works closely with each organization to:

Set up robust systems and processes

Manage critical back-office functions

Enable compliance and governance

Strengthen donor engagement & reporting

Build digital presence & operational efficiency

Engagement Model

Capabilities of each non-profit organisation in the following areas are baselined and tracked during the Project duration:

Accounting and financial reporting

HR management

Digital presence and visibility

Governance

Level of automation and use of technology

Size of Annual funding raised /
Value of Projects executed

Performance goals for each of the above areas are defined and reviewed during the project duration.

Service delivery for back-office processes happens remotely. Our physical presence at the Cohort member premises is not
envisaged. In-person meetings and site visits, as necessary for the other tasks, are done on a need basis.

Cohort member is expected to have a single point of contact to enable passing of all information to us and to coordinate
internally within the organization for query resolution.

very attractive for them.
Fees for the subsequent years 2 and 3 would depend on the growth and overall progress of the cohort member.

As a part of our contribution to the society, we cover the remaining cost.
For us this is our contribution towards making the social sector sustainable and financially stronger.

Who manages the program?

The program is fully managed end-to-end by Seva Tarang Foundation.

What is the duration?

The program runs for 3 years, ensuring deep, sustainable and lasting transformation. This also ensures that we take ownership of what we suggest and implement.

At the end of the cohort period all the processes and activities are handed over back to the organisation. We work with every organisation to identify appropriate staff and their training to take over the tasks.

If the organization wishes to continue with our support beyond the cohort period, the engagement will be separately finalised and handled by our shared services team.
