Background of Operations:

Seva Tarang works towards improving the credibility of social organizations among donors, regulators, employees, and beneficiaries by strengthening and managing their back-office processes.
Under our initiative Project Saksham, we aim to streamline and efficiently manage Accounting and Compliance for a cohort of 15–20 small NGOs. This initiative focuses on building strong financial systems and ensuring regulatory compliance for grassroots organizations, enabling them to scale sustainably.

Job Description:

The Operations Manager – Accounting Services will lead the accounting and compliance function for multiple NGOs under Project Saksham. The role involves managing a team, ensuring accurate financial reporting, handling compliance requirements, and working closely with NGO founders, auditors, and CSR donors.
This is an ideal opportunity for experienced accounting professionals who want to apply their domain expertise for social impact while managing multiple clients in a structured and process-driven environment.

Responsibilities

Accounting & Operations Management

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting for multiple NGOs
  • Ensure timely bookkeeping, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Schedule and allocate work among team members

Team Leadership & Capacity Building

  • Lead and manage a team of junior accountants and freshers
  • Train, mentor, and upgrade team knowledge and skills
  • Ensure quality control and process adherence

Stakeholder Management

  • Handle queries and information requirements from NGO founders
  • Interact with CSR donors and support reporting requirements
  • Maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders

Compliance & Audit

  • Track compliance deadlines and ensure timely filings (Income Tax, statutory requirements, etc.)
  • Manage submissions and regulatory documentation
  • Coordinate with auditors and ensure smooth audit processes

Process Improvement

  • Implement automation tools and improve accounting workflows
  • Drive efficiency, productivity, and standardization across processes

Requirements

Education:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field (CA/Inter CA preferred but not mandatory)

Experience:

  • 10–12 years of experience in Accounting and Compliance
  • Strong experience in finalization of accounts and income tax compliance
  • Experience managing accounting for multiple clients/entities
  • Proven experience leading teams (minimum 3–4 members)
  • Hands-on experience with accounting systems and automation tools

Preferred Experience (Good to Have)

  • Worked with social sector organizations for at least 3–5 years
  • Worked for at least 2–5 years in a BPO or a CA firm
  • Mindset for a customer facing role
  • Aptitude for bringing in process efficiency, productivity improvements
  • Abilities of a leader

Language Skills:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Hindi
